IRREVERSIBLE Miami Art+Design (MA+D) Special Project “The Eternal Beauty”
Curator: Alejandro Mendoza

The title of this project, “The Eternal Beauty” is very much in the Symbolist vein explored by Master Auguste Rodin (1840 -1917). For him, the form was always more important than the subject, and poetic titles like these were only given after the work was completed, if we look back to the history of arts, the state of a sculpture has been always staying for the mental message of an epoch or it was tied with any theological concept, aesthetic meaning of life or practical needs. “The Eternal Beauty” takes a look at the modern and contemporary sculpture inviting to think about ? How it inspires and what senses it calls out?

Recent exhibitions of Latin American and Caribbean contemporary art have fostered new interest in Cuban art. While the island nation may be isolated politically and economically, its art scene has kept the door open to international influences and exchange. Today, Cuban art raises questions about the meaning of socialist or socially contextual art in a post-socialist era, about its capacity to challenge the limitations of political ideologies, and about whether socially contextual art can be both critical and complacent.

Irreversible Projects, Exhibitions & The Magazine are simply astonishing. Practically single-handedly, and with an admirable determination of purpose that miraculously trumps her scant financial resources, she has succeeded in transforming her dream into a cultural portal joining creative voices from Miami to Tokyo, from Spain to Switzerland and beyond.

She has become a catalyst for linking artists of diverse vision in her publication. Whether she meets an artist in her travels to art fairs and creative forums in the United States, Latin America, Europe or Asia, Blazekovic has a knack for attracting those she encounters in the spirit of collaboration. Her magazine serves as a portable exhibit because she approaches the publication with the eye of a curator.

Her goal at Irreversible has always been to “strive to broaden the global understanding of contemporary art and to foster cultural exchange by creating new paradigms through creative initiatives.”

In these pages you will not only find some provocative art, but perhaps more importantly, an equal measure of Blazekovic’s clarity, boldness and independence, not to mention a resolute and unwavering passion for doing what she loves.
